I have been practicing a lot of vegetarian cooking lately and incorporating as much raw vegetables and foods into my diet as possible..and guess what...I feel AMAZING!! Cooking has become so much fun as I experiment with seaweed, avocados, sprouted vegetables and grains...it really is a fascinating world and it just makes you feel so GOOD! I'm reading this amazing book on cleansing and it is changing my whole perspective on food...beyond what I already know and have studied. I have definitely been that person hooked on processed foods, fast food and junk food throughout a huge portion of my life. I remember leaving swim practice when I was young only to go straight to McDonalds and wolf down a Big Mac, large fries, a milkshake AND my oldie favorite hot apple pie. I think I would eat that meal 3 - 4 times a week..along with KFC, Tacotime and Burger King! As yummy as I remember it being it disgusts me now to realize what I was putting into my body...the steroids, antibiotics, trans-fats, high glycemic breads and fries, the sugar, salt, bad dairy, MSG, vegetables covered in pesticides....everything that strips you of your radiance and health was feeding the young growing vibrant me! I also remember that heavy, greasy, full feeling that almost became a satisfying addiction. ...being stuffed. Icouldn't fit all that food into me today and I DON'T miss that feeling - sluggishness, lazy and uncomfortable...it just ain't pretty.
I was ignorant as most young people are to the unhealthy results from eating fast food. I didn't know (or care) that I was doing a lot of harm to myself every time I ate a meal! It has taken me years of bad eating to understand today how terrible it was (and is) and how much better I feel and look when I eat organic, whole and natural foods. We weren't meant to eat chemicals so it's no wonder there is so much sickness today. I have so much to share with you but today this is my advice....if you want to be beautiful on the inside and outside avoid processed foods, choose organic whenever possible and although I don't believe the 'healthy menu' at the above mentioned fast food restaurants is good for you make veggielicious choices and try and avoid the meat.
