All Natural Detoxification

As almni of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition I have access to a world of great natural nutritional articles and lessons - here is a great one on cleansing and re-building that I would like to share with you. To achieve optimal outer beauty your insides need to be cleaned regularly!! Shiny inside = Shiny outside : )

"These days you hear the words “cleansing”
and “detox” quite frequently. To cleanse
one’s body is to remove environmental
and dietary toxic substances with the
application of a healthier lifestyle. Names
of diets that fall into this category include
the candida cleanse, the colon cleanse,
the detox diet, and juice fasting.

More and more research is showing that
we ingest chemicals through the food we
eat, the water we drink, and the air we
breathe. The main reason to go on a
cleansing or rebuilding diet is to rid these
chemicals from our body. Believed to be
deposited in our fat cells, these toxins
produce excess build-up that our bodies
are no longer naturally able to eliminate on
their own—thus compromising our
immune system, causing illness, hormonal
imbalance and nutritional deficiencies—
just to name a few.

Rebuilding and cleansing diets both work
to strengthen your immune system by
looking at food as fuel for your internal
organs, especially your liver. Along with
detoxifying properties, these diets add in
the missing nutrients the body requires.
Here are some recommended cleansing
and rebuilding foods to eat as well as
foods to avoid in the process.

Recommended Foods:

• fresh or frozen berries
• fresh vegetables
• brown rice
• gluten-free grains (amaranth, millet,
buckwheat, quinoa beans and lentils
• nuts and seeds
• extra-virgin olive oil

Foods to Avoid:

• sugar (stevia and eruthritol okay)
• dairy products
• wheat and gluten products
• yeast products
• food additives and preservatives
• chocolate
• very high-fat foods

Caffeine and Alcohol should also be avoided during cleansing."

To Your Health and Happiness!
Christine
